The Act on Aesthetic Surgical Procedures and Aesthetic Injection Treatments
The Act on Aesthetic Surgical Procedures and Aesthetic Injection Treatments was introduced in 2021 to regulate the safety and quality of aesthetic procedures in Sweden. The purpose is to ensure that patients receive safe and professionally performed treatments. Customer rights
- You have the right to clear information about the treatment, its risks, and alternatives, both verbally and in writing.
- A mandatory reflection period applies, which means you must wait 48 hours after receiving information about the treatment before it can be performed.
- Your consent to undergo the treatment must be given in writing.
- Aftercare and follow-up are important to ensure your well-being and satisfaction with the results.
Can everyone receive treatment?
- No, there is an age limit. You must be at least 18 years old to undergo aesthetic injection treatments.
- It is important to remember that there may be various reasons why you might not be eligible for treatment, such as medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or other individual assessments.
Requirements for the practitioner
- Those performing the treatments must have a licensed professional background as a nurse, dentist, or physician. Furthermore, the practitioner should have specialized training and competence to ensure your safety and the quality of the treatment.
- A medically responsible physician must be affiliated with the clinic.
- Practitioners must have liability insurance to cover any potential complications.
- The clinic must be registered with the Health and Social Care Inspectorate (Inspektionen för vård och omsorg, IVO).
- Clinics are required to maintain thorough documentation of the treatment and your medical history.
