Sclerotherapy of vessels involves a medical treatment in which a solution is injected into damaged or cosmetically disturbing vessels to cause them to shrink and then disappear.

Sclerotherapy treatment may cause mild discomfort or pain, depending on the individual's pain threshold and the specific area being treated. Many patients experience only a stinging sensation or minor discomfort when the solution is injected. The pain experience can vary, but most treatments are considered relatively painless.

The time it takes for a vascular sclerotherapy treatment can vary depending on the number of vessels to be treated and their size, but a single treatment session is usually relatively short. A typical session can range from a few minutes to half an hour.

The number of treatments required to get rid of veins through sclerotherapy varies depending on several factors, including the size of the veins, their type, and the individual's response to the treatment. Repeated treatment sessions are common to achieve the desired results.

Generally, between 2 to 3 treatments are required for smaller vessels such as spider veins, but varicose veins may require more sessions. Between each treatment, a few weeks should pass to allow the body to heal and respond to the treatment.

The results of sclerotherapy are permanent for the specific vessels that are treated and successfully sclerosed; these vessels disappear or are significantly reduced in size and do not return. However, it is important to note that sclerotherapy does not prevent new varicose or spider veins from forming.

Please wear loose-fitting clothing so that the treatment area is easily accessible. Bring compression stockings, which are recommended for use after treatment.

After treatment, patients may experience bruising, redness, and small blood clots at the injection sites, as well as skin irritation and itching.

Although less common, some people may also experience skin pigmentation changes, the formation of small sores, inflammation of treated veins, or allergic reactions to the sclerosing agent.
